| Rod Heard, Program Manager, Lean Manufacturing, Center for Robotics and Manufacturing Systems, University of Kentucky. Description of Presentation: In over 20 years as an engineering program manager at IBM, Mr. Heard was responsible for the development of numerous word processing and printing products as well as introduction of new electronic packaging and printing technologies into products. Upon joining the University of Kentucky, he established electronic manufacturing facilities, courses, and technology transfer services to industry. Since 1995, he has managed the UK Lean Manufacturing Program. His presentation highlights the necessity of cultural change and a systemic approach in implementing lean manufacturing.
